Input filters, also known as mains filters , are electronic components used in electrical or electronic devices to suppress unwanted electromagnetic interference that could enter the device via the mains or other input lines and thus cause unwanted interactions.
These filters also help to ensure that the appliance itself does not emit any interference into the mains supply . This is important in order to be able to comply with the EMC limit values specified in the standards and not to interfere with other devices in the network .
