The HFE-5P and HFE-8P models are highly efficient, two-stage passive harmonic filters specifically designed to reduce harmonics generated by frequency inverters.

Under realistic operating conditions – such as already distorted mains voltage or uneven mains load – the filters reliably reduce the line current distortion (THDi) to below 5% (HFE-5P) or below 8% (HFE-8P). They thus meet the requirements of relevant standards and guidelines.

In contrast to conventional absorption circuits, which specifically attenuate the 5th harmonic, both models utilize a two-stage filter design. This typically reduces the THDi to around 3% – without concentrating on a single frequency. Instead, the entire harmonic spectrum is effectively attenuated.

Our harmonic filters have the following properties:

  • Reduction of harmonics and low frequency distortion
  • Improvement of the THDi values (<5% possible)
  • Compliance with the harmonic emission requirements of IEC 61000-3-12
  • Less expensive than active harmonic filters
  • Significantly reduced input current (energy saving)
